Born and raised in Argentina, Burstein played in many youth teams as a kid, including that of River Plate. In 1994 he came to Israel and played in the youth team of Maccabi Herzliya. His coaching career started in 2000 in Gadna Yehuda, from there he went on the Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Kfar Saba. In the beginning of 2006/07 season Burstein came to coach in Hapoel Tel Aviv alongside head coach Itzhak Shum, he spent the 2007/08 season coaching the youth teams of the club and was recently called upon the senior club to replace the former Goalkeeper coach.

Burstein is also a part to the teaching staff in the Wingate Institute at the coaching course.
